About Jiaoqiu

Jiaoqiu works by applying stacks of Ashen Roast to enemies using his Basic Attack, Skill, and Ultimate. This debuff increases the damage enemies take and also deals Fire damage over time based on his ATK stat.
At 1 stack, enemies take 7.5% more damage. Each additional stack adds 2.5% more vulnerability, maxing out at 5 stacks for 15% total damage increase. The debuff lasts for 2 turns but refreshes whenever Jiaoqiu reapplies it.
His Ultimate is the key to his power. It equalizes Ashen Roast stacks across all enemies to match the highest stack count on the field. Then it creates a Zone that lasts 3 turns. While the Zone is active, enemies take 9% increased Ultimate damage and have a 50% chance to gain Ashen Roast stacks when they take actions.
The key to Jiaoqiu’s strength is his bonus traces. He starts battles with 15 Energy for a quick first Ultimate. His ATK increases by 60% for every 15% Effect Hit Rate above 80%, giving him up to 240% bonus ATK at 140% Effect Hit Rate. When his Zone is active, new enemies entering combat instantly get maximum Ashen Roast stacks.
Best Light Cones for Jiaoqiu

Best Relics for Jiaoqiu

Relics are crucial for building Jiaoqiu correctly. Here’s what you need:
Best Relic Sets
The 4 piece Prisoner in Deep Confinement is Jiaoqiu’s best relic set for Damage over Time teams. This set maximizes his Fire DoT damage from Ashen Roast.
For Acheron teams, use 2 piece Sprightly Vonwacq. This provides 5% Energy Regeneration and advances Jiaoqiu’s action by 40% at battle start when his Speed reaches 120 or higher. This lets him apply debuffs before enemies act.
Alternative options include mixing 2 piece sets like Musketeer of Wild Wheat for ATK and Messenger Traversing Hackerspace for Speed.
Best Planar Ornaments
For planar ornaments, use Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise for Effect Hit Rate and ATK bonuses. This set increases Effect Hit Rate by 10% and boosts ATK by up to 25% based on current Effect Hit Rate.
Broken Keel works well for Acheron teams. It provides 10% Effect Resistance and increases all allies’ CRIT DMG by 10% when Jiaoqiu has 30% or higher Effect Resistance.
Space Sealing Station is a safe choice since Jiaoqiu’s damage scales with ATK. It provides 12% ATK and an additional 12% ATK when Speed reaches 120.
Main Stats and Substats
Focus on these stats for maximum effectiveness:
Main Stats:
- Body: Effect Hit Rate
- Feet: Speed
- Planar Sphere: Fire DMG or ATK%
- Link Rope: Energy Regeneration Rate
Substats Priority:
- Effect Hit Rate (aim for 140% minimum, 180% with signature light cone)
- Speed (faster than your DPS)
- ATK%
- Break Effect%
- Effect Resistance
Stat Targets and Build Tips

Jiaoqiu has specific stat breakpoints you need to reach:
Effect Hit Rate: Aim for 140% Effect Hit Rate to maximize his ATK bonus from his passive ability. If you have his signature light cone Those Many Springs, target 180% Effect Hit Rate to guarantee the Unarmored debuff application on all enemies including bosses.
Speed: Build Jiaoqiu faster than your main DPS character. A good target is 142 Speed or higher. The earlier Jiaoqiu applies Ashen Roast stacks, the more damage your team deals.
ATK: Since Jiaoqiu’s Fire DoT scales entirely from his ATK stat, prioritize ATK% substats after reaching your Effect Hit Rate and Speed targets.
For Damage over Time focused builds, you can use an ATK% Link Rope instead of Energy Regeneration Rate since his Ultimate is less critical in these teams.
Best Team Compositions

Jiaoqiu works in many team combinations. Here are some of the best:
- Premium Acheron Team: Jiaoqiu + Acheron + Pela + sustain
- Budget Acheron Team: Jiaoqiu + Acheron + Guinaifen + sustain
- DoT Team: Jiaoqiu + Kafka + Black Swan + Huohuo
- Follow-Up Team: Jiaoqiu + Dr. Ratio + Robin + Aventurine
- Pure Fiction Team: Jiaoqiu + Herta + Asta + sustain
Trace Priority
Level Jiaoqiu’s traces in this order:
- Talent (highest priority for debuff strength)
- Ultimate (important for Zone and stack equalization)
- Skill (moderate priority)
- Basic Attack (lowest priority)
For bonus abilities, all three are important. A2 gives him 15 Energy at battle start. A4 converts Effect Hit Rate into ATK bonuses. A6 makes new enemies inherit maximum Ashen Roast stacks when his Zone is active.
